What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis is a Daydream-like state in which the Conscious mind becomes ‘quiet’ or ‘passive’. When fully awake your brain is in a state known as ‘Beta’ brain waves. As you drift into sleep these waves change to ‘Alpha’ and then to ‘Theta’ in deep sleep. The Alpha state is a very dreamy and relaxed state, which has the benefit of stress reduction in addition to the benefits of the treatment. Hypnotherapy may assist you in breaking free of negative, unhelpful thoughts  and/or habits by treating the root cause of the problem.

Will I go to sleep and not remember anything?
No. During Hypnotherapy you are in a deeply relaxed state where you can hear everything being said to you and may even answer questions asked. You will remember all when brought out of Hypnosis.

Can I get ‘stuck’ in Hypnosis?
No. During Hypnosis you are merely in a pleasant and deeply relaxed state. At the conclusion, you will be gently brought back to full consciousness. A most pleasant experience!

Do you have ‘control’ over me?
No. You do not give up control when hypnotised. During the process, positive suggestions are introduced into your highly receptive sub-conscious mind in order to guide it in the direction it needs to resolve the issues which are causing the problem/habit/phobia. You are never under anyone’s control but your own and cannot be told to do or say anything that is against your will.
Can anyone be hypnotized?
Yes, your body and mind go into trance frequently, remember a time when you have been driving home, the radio is playing and a song comes on that reminds you of an experience, a great holiday, someone you care about, and you find your mind just drifts off, these are common experiences of natural light forms of hypnosis that we drift into all the time.
Is hypnosis safe?
Absolutely! Hypnosis has been around hundreds of years and is now increasing in popularity. It is now recognised by the British Medical Association as an approved treatment.
